Brazilian-born and New York–based artist Octavio Deluchi is a guitarist, educator, and cultural producer whose work centers on the classical guitar and the Brazilian repertoire.
Originally from the mountains of Minas Gerais, he has won more than fifteen national and international awards and has performed in Brazil, England, Chile, and the United States. In the upcoming season, he has tours scheduled in Colombia, Europe, and Brazil. Among his notable appearances are performances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Americas Society, the Radford International Guitar Festival, and the Guimarães Rosa Institute in Santiago, Chile. As both a soloist and chamber musician, Deluchi has shared the stage with artists such as Eduardo Leandro, Arthur Haas, Emmanuele Baldini, René Izquierdo, Celil Refik Kaya, Guido Campos, Gabriele Leite, and Weiting Sun, among others. He gave the North American premiere of João Luiz’s MadrigAfro Guitar Concerto at Americas Society with the Grammy-nominated São Paulo Chamber Soloists and has performed multiple times as a soloist with the orchestra at the Festival de Música de Prados under the direction of André Bachur.
Based in New York City since 2021, Deluchi fosters an ongoing artistic exchange between Brazil and the United States through SERTÃO Americas®, a multimedia platform dedicated to cultural initiatives and creative projects ranging from audiovisual production to educational programs such as Jacarandá®. He also serves as director of the Mostra de Violão da Lira Ceciliana, was a founding member of the Associação de Violão das Vertentes, and coordinated the BCGC – Brazilian Classical Guitar Community. His recent single Corta-Jaca marked the beginning of his partnership with Kuarup, followed by Luar do Sertão with Duo Aduar and the upcoming album Borogodó. Grammy Award–winning Kuarup is Brazil’s longest-running independent record label, with a catalogue that includes artists such as Sérgio Assad, Odair Assad, Raphael Rabello, Baden Powell, Renato Teixeira, Elomar, Pena Branca & Xavantinho, and Arthur Moreira Lima, among others.
Deluchi’s first book, Chiquinha Gonzaga: Guitar Arrangements, was recently published by Les Productions d’Oz (Canada) and is currently available in North America, Europe, and South America. The publication features twelve new solo guitar arrangements of works by Chiquinha Gonzaga, one of Brazil’s most significant composers, and includes a preface with contributions from Sérgio Assad, João Luiz, Nicolas Porto, Thaís Nascimento, and Luciano Lima.
