Duokado, the guitar-cello duo of Matthew Kaplan and Mark Humburg, was formed in 2012 while both were students at Mannes College – The New School for Music.

Since then, they have performed internationally and throughout New York City at venues including the DiMenna Center for Classical Music, the Americas Society, and more.

Centering their work on exciting repertoire for guitar and cello, the duo is particularly committed to championing contemporary music and bringing new works to life.

Recent projects have included New York City premieres of music by Leo Brouwer and Jaime Zenamon, both of who are featured composers on this evening’s program.

Kaplan and Humburg maintain active careers as performers, educators, and recording artists in NYC. Together they have collaborated on multiple recording projects, including Kaplan’s chamber music projects: Zenamon - A Chamber Music Collection and Kaplan’s upcoming release, El mito de Sísifo: New works by Leo Brouwer (7/24/26), and continue to explore and expand the repertoire for their unique instrumental combination.
